The Death of Infants

1st Corinthians 15:22 … "For as in Adam all die …"

It may be noticed, that the death of infants is prior to personal or actual sin. Some babies labor with death and struggle hard in His hands, until they resign the gift of life they had retained for so short a while.

It is said that the case of infants is not introduced in Scripture in connection with this subject; that they are not at all referred to in any part of the disputed passage above, nor included in the clause, found in …

Romans 5:14 … "death reigned, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression."

Why do infants die? Perhaps it will be said that though they have committed no actual sin, yet they have a fallen nature. Why are innocent infants visited with death? One answer only can be given, " … in Adam all die."

The wonder is that this doctrine should ever have been denied. On the human family at large, on man and woman, on infant child, are traced the dismal effects of the first sin.

I hope this may help those who have suffered the loss of one or more of your born or unborn children or grandchildren. I know from personal experience it is a hurt you will never completely get over in this lifetime.

That's only going to happen when Jesus wipes away every tear later.

I understand the death of infants and children by accidents or natural causes. But it is very difficult to understand physical and sexual abuse of infants and children. Could you find a scripture to help explain this horrible reality?

The Abuse of Children

"I understand the death of infants and children by accidents or natural causes. But it is very difficult to understand physical and sexual abuse of infants and children. Could you find a scripture to help explain this horrible reality?"

Your question is a very heavy one, but I will try. Many people have asked the same type of questions …"If God is good, why doesn't He stop these things from happening?"

The problem is not with God's heart, it's man's heart that is evil.

Concerning the evil man does to his own children and others; having only limited knowledge of the vastness and depth of God's Word, I must fall back to the teaching of the heart of man and how easily Satan can pervert it and cause man to commit such unimaginable evils. (I was going to say … unhuman acts of evil … but that is exactly what they are … unhuman.) They come from the pit of Hell … from Satan.

So may I take you to some of what the Word says about man … his heart and soul.

Genesis 6:5 …"And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and
that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually."

The heart of man is evil and wicked, some men desperately wicked, out of which evil thoughts are formed and proceed; they are sinful and abominable in the sight of God.

1st Timothy 4:1 …"But the Holy Spirit distinctly and expressly declares that in latter times some will turn away from the faith, giving attention to deluding and seducing spirits and doctrines that demons teach …"

Even though the above verse speaks to the Christian Faith; I will say as of late, is it not true that those who commit physical and sexual abuse of infants and children have given in to Satan and his seducing spirits and demons that perverts the hearts and minds of these "sick and evil" people.

They become as it states in the following portion of Scripture … "without natural affection" … more beast than man.

2nd Timothy 3:1-4 …"But understand this, that in the last days will come perilous times of great stress and trouble hard to deal with and hard to bear.

For people will be lovers of self and utterly self-centered … they will be abusive … unholy and profane.

They will be without natural human affection (callous and inhuman) … loose in morals and conduct, uncontrolled and fierce …

("Natural affection" … that loving affection which parents bear to their young; affection which is also common in animals. Consequently, when men are without it, they are worse than beasts.)

They will be treacherous … lovers of sensual pleasures and vain amusements more than and rather than lovers of God.

2nd Timothy 3:6 …"For among them are those … led away by various evil desires and seductive impulses."

2nd Timothy 3:13 …"But wicked men … will go on from bad to worse …"

Ecclesiastes 9:3 …"This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun … the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart …"

Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 …"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man."

This is the conclusion of the Book of Ecclesiastes. The only rule of life, "the whole duty of man" is to fear God. This is one of the problems … evil men don't.

It is a spiritual law of nature; man is fallen.

Even a man like Paul, for he wrote in Romans 7:21 …"I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me."

Paul speaks of this again in Romans 8:7 …" the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be."

The soul of man (where your mind and appetites dwell) has no authority over the lusts and appetites of the body; reason cannot govern passion. The carnal mind will make provision for the flesh to fulfill its appetites and lusts; it minds the things of the flesh, and is naturally hostile towards God.

It is a fact that Satan delights in the opportunity to inflict torture or suffering of any kind on young or old and uses the evil debased hearts of men to do so.

The simple answer is found in John 13:2 & 27 …"Satan having already put the thought of betraying Jesus in the heart of Judas … And after … Satan entered into him."

What makes a "normal" man turn evil to the point he cannot repress or control his actions? The answer is Satanic or demonic influences and thoughts that are allowed in a person's heart, mind and soul.

1st Corinthians 15:27 …"For he hath put all things under his feet." (Speaking of Jesus)

Hebrews 2:8 …"Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him."

I would like to say this verse is speaking about Jesus … but it's not. It's speaking about man. The next verse says …"But we see Jesus" … so clearly it speaks of man's feet.

What is not under man's feet? Our enemy … Satan, sin, evil and the works of the devil.
Someday sin will be no more. But until that day comes, Satan is the prince and power of the air, the god of this world … not the planet Earth, but man's social system.

Each man has a … "will" … good or bad, which God will not go against; even when that means "evil" will be done unto others, even children.

God can but usually doesn't intervene too often in the affairs of man … good or evil. But He can and sometimes does … if He so chooses.

I hope this helps.

If you haven't already, read my posting … "Men Always Protest."

It will help answer the question … How can a Good God and an Evil World co-exist?

God Bless …
